The DSD team of the Centre Hospitalier Universitaire de Lyon (run by hospital administration Hospices Civils de Lyon/HCL) is the national reference centre for DSD (Coordinator Prof. P. Chatelain) as part of the French Minister of Health driven national program for rare disorders. Staff and facilities are based at the Mother and Child university Hospital of Lyon (Bron), part of Université Claude Bernard Lyon1, Medical School. The DSD reference centre includes DSD such as 46,XX including congenital adrenal hyperplasia, 46,XY DSD; and sex chromosome DSD such as mixed Gonadal Dysgenesis (45XO/46 XX), Turner syndrome (45,X0) and Klinefelter syndrome (467,XXY) and 46,XY hypospadias. The DSD reference centre coordinates a network of 20 “competences centres” over France where specialized teams manage DSD following guidelines or current management protocols. 250-300 new DSD patients/year are seen in Lyon. The DSD team includes all major specialties for multidisciplinary care of DSD: Paediatric Endocrinology, Paediatric Surgery and Urology, Genetics, Biochemistry, Gynaecology, Paediatric Psychiatry,Adult Endocrinology, Imaging, Endocrine & Molecular Biology specialists. Furthermore, the DSD national Reference Centre in Lyon provides additional staff for clinical management of DSD. Prof. P. Chatelain and Prof. Y. Morel have already contributed to the EuroDSD consortium funded in FP7. In addition, we work with the active support of the “Centre d’Investigation Clinique Pédiatrique” (CIC Pédiatrique, leaded by Dr. Behrouz Kassai, Pharmacologist and Specialist in Clinical Research in Paediatrics for all Paediatric Medical Research activity (e.g. trials studies): The “CIC Pédiatrique” gives advice on ethics, data capture, good medical practice processes, data cleaning, analysis, report.
